ARTWORK by Jerry Frost

About the Art

From the first DC-3s to the sleek Boeing 727s that defined Eastern’s jet age, Captain Jerry Frost has spent years rebuilding the fleet on his screen. Working from photographs, logbooks, and his own recollections from the cockpit, he has produced dozens of digital renderings that honor the aircraft Eastern pilots knew best. His photorealism captures not just the look of the planes, but the feeling of flight. Each image is crafted from a pilot’s perspective, with careful attention to markings, light, and motion. The gallery serves as both art and remembrance, honoring the aircraft that carried Eastern’s crews across the skies.

About the Artist

Captain Jerry Frost, 86, was born and raised in Urbana, Illinois, in 1939. He attended military school as a young boy and developed a passion for aviation. In 1956, he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served at the Amarillo, Texas Air Force Base Training Command as an instructor for four years. In 1963, he joined Eastern Air Lines as a pilot and eventually became a captain, flying various commercial aircraft on both domestic and military MAC international routes. In addition to his passion for aviation, Frost has been an avid photographer since 1952. He has traveled extensively throughout his career, capturing images of landscapes, people, and cultures across the country. His photographs have been exhibited in several local venues and have won numerous awards.

Upon retiring in 1985, Frost merged his passion for aviation and photography with his expertise in computer science and web design, teaching himself digital rendering. Through this medium of visual art, he brought the aircraft he once flew back to life.
